Welcome back! I know that you will do your best this week to practice COMPASSION. Let’s remember to show each other compassion on the playground and in the classroom. Make sure that no one is made fun of or left out of the Lion spirit!
How you treat others matters! We must be the change we want to see in the world.(Mahatma Gandhi)

Welcome back Mason Lion families! I hope all of you enjoyed a very safe and happy holiday season.
The PTA would like to thank all of the Mason Lion families and their friends who were able to participate in the Scholastic Book Fair (held in December) and our fundraiser restaurant event at Panda Express (held in January). Your participation made both of these events a huge success. We would also like to send a special thank you to Anna Yip who organized and managed the book fair, and all of the volunteers.
In order to continue raising funds for future school/student events, the PTA will continue to schedule fundraiser restaurant nights throughout the remainder of the school year. Our next fundraiser night will be held at Fuddruckers on Thursday, February 18, 2010, from 12:30-9:00 p.m. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

For the San Diego Unified School District, this means a reduction of nearly 20 percent in school funding over three years, while the enrollment has increased by nearly 2 percent. That's a reduction of $180 million, plus another $16 million that might have to be cut before the end of the 2009-10 school year. Check the list of proposed budget cuts .
