PTA PROGRAMS

Mason’s PTA is busy all year long with events and programs for our students and staff. This listing highlights and gives details on what you can look forward to!

The Scholastic Book Fair is held every November during VIP week with proceeds benefitting the Mason PTA. The Book Fair Chairpersons coordinate volunteer scheduling and classroom scheduling, handle advertising and work several shifts at the Book Fair. Volunteers work a shift during the Book Fair.

Our awesome chair works diligently to prepare the directory that contains contact information for Mason families as well as other useful tidbits. At the beginning of the year, parents will have the option to opt out of having their information published. 

Chair: Laura Flynn

Offered to 3rd-5th grade students, Ecology Club raises awareness of the environment and encourages students to reduce, reuse and recycle. Meetings are typically held once a month before school on late start Fridays and includes one field trip each year.  Students may engage in a variety of activities including hiking, recycling, and habitat preservation. Volunteers are needed to help with the organization of activities for each month’s meetings

Family Fun Night is a great way for families to come together and have a great time. The committee decides what events to plan, schedules volunteers, and runs the evening from start to finish. All talents are needed. In the past, we’ve scheduled Ice Cream & Dinners. Dinners out are were restaurants give us a percentage of the profits of all sales for one night. All you have to do is have dinner that night and we make money for our school PTA.

Chair: NEEDED

Field Day is a day of fun and outside games for the entire school at the end of the school year. The Field Day Chairperson helps Coach K oversee the entire event including selecting the games, planning the day’s schedule and coordinating the volunteers. Numerous volunteers are needed to assist with set up, running the games, walking around with the classes and clean up. A call for volunteers goes out a few weeks before Field Day.

This committee secures volunteers for each classroom, communicates to room parents the responsibilities for coordinating the Halloween and Valentine’s Day parties, distributes the money for the events, and sets up grade-level monthly meals for staff. The room parent responsibility also includes coordinating a collection from parents for a teacher gift for the winter holiday and again at the end of the school year.

The Fifth Grade Representative is the liaison between the 5th grade teachers and parents of 5th grade students. The Representative needs to maintain the 5th grade bank account, budget and fundraising and helps with many aspects of the monthly parties/field trips, the 5th Grade End of the Year Party, the 5th Grade Concession Stand Fundraiser, and 5th Grade Graduation. If you have a fifth grader—this committee is for you!

This committee will organize and oversee major fundraising activities for the year. Currently this is a Read-A-Thon in October. This includes advertising the event, gathering volunteers to sponsor a trunk, setting up games and activities, etc..

While we always appreciate our fabulous Mason teachers and staff, two specific events are planned as a way to say thanks. The Jackson PTA provides a meal to teachers and staff the evening of Parent/Teacher conferences in November. Mason PTA also coordinates Teacher Appreciation Week the first week in May. The week consists of a variety of meals the staff along with other events. The Chairperson coordinates both events. Volunteers are needed to help with the meals and other events held Conferences and TA week.

A few days prior to school there is kindergarten social for students to get to meet each other right before school starts. The committee schedules a night before school starts, plans a play date on the Mason playground, and sends out advertisements to promote it. This committee will also organize and promote the Kindergarten Boo/Hoo Breakfast on the first day of school.

Reflections chair organizes the annual reflections contest and provides information on the theme, organizes workshops, and advertises the event. In addition, the Reflections chair solicits judges for the school level judging of entries and accepts entries at the entry deadline set by the county. Volunteers assist in advertising and recruiting children to participate in the contest. Volunteers also assist in the workshops, and in displaying the projects on the day the projects are judged.

Chair: Michelle Wray

Organize 2-3 PTA sponsored skating nights at the Landmark 2 Skate rink. The chair of this committee will coordinate with the skating rink, and organize and distribute the Golden Skate.

Chair: Megan Wiest

The VIP chair organizes the table decorations for our Very Important Person Day (formerly Grandparents Day) event, which includes a VIP Breakfast which lasts usually 2 days in November. Volunteers assist in decorating tables in the cafeteria.

Chair: Sarah Caye and Katie Selby

The Spirit Wear Committee Chair helps foster Mason Elementary spirit by providing the students and their families with Mason logo wear. The Chair’s role is to create a new “look” (as necessary) as well as to provide the traditional Mason logo wear. The Chair works with a logo wear vendor to create and continue the Mason spirit wear collection. The chairperson organizes and runs the sale.
